Herman Gets a Raise

Well, this is a cheap move, but I am posting a revision to that story I posted a few days ago, about Herman and such. Hope you enjoy it.

Herman Gets a Raise

Herman left work early because he wanted to take his wife for a walk. Exiting the office building, which cast a grim shadow beyond the bright sun all over Herman's boxy car; he thought that perhaps he should get smoothies. He reinserted the key into the lock and locked the passenger side door. A few blocks north, Herman knew, was the smoothie store and since, he thought, the weather was nice he should walk and not drive. That was the kind of guy Herman was, well, that and the leaving work early thing, oh and also, the bringing home smoothies thing. On the way to the smoothie store, Herman passed a deli. The young Asian worker outside was rinsing the strawberries, peaches, and bananas with a hose. His thumb covered the hole so that the water would trickle over the soft shinny fruit. As Herman passed, the Asian worker shot a friendly grin and wink at Herman, and before Herman knew, he was beside the worker picking out fruits to make smoothies at home for the walk. Of course, that turned into entering the store and buying some milk to thicken the fresh smoothies he, and he knew, his wife craved. Taking some cash out of his wallet while a friendly old Asian face priced the goods, Herman noticed the pack of Djharum Cloves behind the counter. Even though Herman did not smoke and to his knowledge, his wife too has no such affliction, he remembered that on one of their first dates they ended up walking down these peers on riverside park. At that young age, Herman thought smoking cloves was a fun thing to do and it was after Sharon took a drag that Herman first kissed her. Being that sort of romantic, Herman bought the cloves.

Back at the car, Herman unlocked the passenger door; put his briefcase in the passenger seat and the fruits on top of that, which he then covered with his jacket. He reached over the pile and manually pulled out the lock of the driver side door. The passenger side door slammed with an exciting crash as Herman rushed to the driver side door where he belonged. Exiting the city proved to be much easier than Herman expected, as most of the pitfalls that generally occur during rush-hour across town were somehow avoided by the route he drove. Interestingly enough, it occurred to Herman, traffic seemed to unintentionally be avoiding him. Cars in front of him made lefts and rights every block; thereby clearing the way via some strange sort of abstinence. But then traffic had picked up on the West Side highway and Herman cursed himself because now that he was late in leaving early, it would appear to his wife that he had left on time, thereby degrading the mental effort exuded. But no worries, the sun would still shine for a few more hours, making smoothies would be quick, and in deed, there would still be time for a nice, relaxing walk. Herman drove over the George Washington Bridge toward Fort Lee where Sharon and he shared a studio apartment until Herman would be promoted to partner, at which point, they planned to move into the city. That's what Sharon wanted anyway - Herman liked Fort Lee just fine. Sharon wanted all the glamour of New York while Herman really enjoyed having the most picturesque view of the famous city skyline of skyscrapers right outside his apartment in Fort Lee Park. At the same time though, Herman was no idealist and knew that when they could afford the apartment in New York, he would move there. He knew he would buy his wife fancy jewelry and expensive dresses from Madison Avenue. He would be willing to take her to the luxurious restaurants, and not just during restaurant week when a lunch is just twenty dollars. But Herman thought, since he did enjoy going to those restaurants with Sharon during restaurant week, dressing all fancy and telling the Maître d' that they, yes even they, have reservations, they would still do lunch. Nevertheless, concessions he would perform for his wife’s dreams of the fabulous future aside, all that was on Herman’s mind as he parked the car was his anticipation for the matured suburbanized version of his early acts of romantics and love.

Sharon heard him unlock the door and appeared in the hallway as he turned around from hanging his coat. With a victorious smile Herman displayed his briefcase high above his head for Sharon to see. She started shrieking with joy, and while Herman would have liked to believe that she was so ecstatic about the bag of fruits and his adoring plans, he knew he used the wrong hand to display the wrong item. Worse, he began deciphering what Sharon was yelling, basically, "Oh my god, you got partner!" She ran toward him, colliding with his chest, knocking the bag of fruits to the ground and the briefcase onto her head where it lingered for a moment but fell to the ground when Herman jolted backwards in an almost terrified manner. But she didn't let go then, she just kissed his neck and shouted about his promotion. An unfamiliar dread came over Herman. His lie, he thought, would be very difficult to retract. Consequences filled his head when the blinding dreaminess in Sharon’s eyes reflected her future. All he wanted was to make smoothies, smoke some cloves, and go for a walk. Herman pulled his wife’s hands from around his neck and said, “Yes sweetie, I, eh, am going to be, uh, am being made partner.” Hesitant with the vagueness, Sharon wanted a definite answer. And as she began dropping to her knees and undoing Herman’s belt-buckle, she smiled seductively at him, and said, “Well partner’s are better paid, you,” she chuckled, “are getting a raise right?”

“Looks like it,” Herman commented as he shut his eyes and tilted his head back in self-loathing submission. As he orgasmed into her wide open mouth he again remembered the smoothies he wanted to make.
