Now I'm Artsy Wordy and Dorky

Post 249

So no video today. I'm working on trying to find the pictures from Israel, but I don't think that is going to work out. I spoke to my mom on the phone today, she told me two things. 1. Don't fight god, you will lose. 2. I would make a good father. Sometimes, when I'm talking with my parents on the phone, or even sometimes when she leaves messages on my phone, they will start arguing. It resembles a scene from Seinfeld. Some examples. A few weeks ago, my father called Saturday morning around 10am EST, so 9am where I am. I woke up, but when I saw it was my parents, I went back to sleep. Around 1, when I woke up for real, I checked my messages. This is the message my father left me. "Hi Avu (pronounced much like Apu, but with a long V sound, so Aaavu), I am calling to wake you up for shul (which is synagogue), but oh your mother says that we are not suppose to call this early on the weekend.” See my mom had called at a similar time last semester and I told her not to call until 2 on weekends. The message continues with my mom shouting in the backroom, “Who are you talking to? Avi? He says not to call him so early,” and my dad responds, “But I am calling to tell him to go to shul,” and my mom shouts back, “He isn’t awake yet, you never listen, always Carlos.” And then my dad says, “Well okay, Avu, I guess you are sleeping, I will talk to you later.” And then the other day, my mom called and we were talking about Road to Perdition, and I was mentioning how I didn’t like it because it is so emotionally heavy, handed, implying we (the viewer) should care and sympathize with a murder because he happens to be a father, but I am not fully expressing that thought right now. Anyway, on the phone I told my mom this, and she started shouting at my dad that he is an idiot for liking the movie. And my dad shouted back about something, and that went on for like five minutes, but I had to get some work done, so I put an end to it and got my mom’s attention. My parents have grown on me lately.

I was thinking today that I should cut my hair short and make two horns out of hair and dye those bright red. Or I want to somehow dye a yellow star on the left corner of my head, but these are just things. I’m trying to finish Harry’s site and Big Belly Media’s site, but I am, apparently, much lazier than I ever thought. Give me some suggestions to what you guys would like to see me do with the next post.

Later that night

I felt like posting for some reason. Today in my English 168 class, we had peer review. And my TA, was writing the peer review groups (that is when you you know, read other people's essay and write comments) down on the board. There is this girl in the class, her name is Yana. There is a list of things I like about Yana.
1. Her name is cool. It would make this really great sound in bed, "Ohhhh Yanaaaa." Right?
2. She isn't that attractive, so I'm not intimidated. I mean if she was say, Britney Spears, I'd have a hard time talking to her, but seeing as I never talked to her, I guess I am still intimidated.
3. She is, or at least dresses, like the kind of punks I like, which is only one thing about you is punk, the rest is regular. So some days she wears a chain, other's she wears big boots with a skirt, things like that.
4. First day of class, she was late.
5. She once wore a HomeStarRunner.com sweatshirt, which is cool because she likes the internet and supports the internet's independent media.
6. When this guy disagreed with me in class and he got to say the last word because the TA wanted to move on, I rolled my eyes at him and she noticed it I think.
7. She seems smart enough, oh and she is a computer science major.

Well anyway, so the TA was writing down the groups, and had not written my name down. Secretly, I hoped to be in Yana's group. The TA turned around and said, right after he wrote Yana's name on the board, "Whose name have I forgotten?" I said, me. this was double cool because he didn't even have to turn around to look for who it was, he knew it was me, and he put me in Yana's group. That's pretty much the end of the story. I reviewed her intro (as she didn't write a full draft) and she reviewed my intro. Then we talked about school and what not. And then I left.

Avi, I love you... the dr. thunder bashing video is amazing - great editing work, and a perfect modest mouse soundtrack... we just need senior play now and we're all set.

Thanks Savage. No, the senior play is dead. Parts are missing from the original, and the first act is severly bad quality. Sorry man.
