Now I'm Artsy Wordy and Dorky

Emails

*Hey,

See this is the part of the movie, and I mean the movie of my life, where I'd be driving home telling the viewer that F. Scott Fitzgerald said "American lives don't have second acts," and indicating that here in Manchester we do things a bit different and this is the start of the second act. The viewer would fill with excitment, anticipation would grow with every frame because history is about to be changed. My character, in the movie again, he would be looking different. Perhaps previously the film showed me with hair parted in the middle, but as the second act approaches, I've cut my hair and now have a fohawk. I've been wearing this red ribbon as a braclet for a little over a week, I don't know why, but it looks cool. Everything is changing. I write TAs 4 page emails about the books we've discussed (you should read the one about the Castle, I totaly understand Kafka). I'm getting good grades, putting in no effort, and have begun creating an amazing Media Company (plug this into your browser: www.bigbellymedia.com and www.voiceofmygeneration.com). I'll explain those later. But do you understand Steve? Everything is coming to climax. Everything is just beyond my reach. I mean for all I know, I may be changing the world. But see, I look at the sites I'm making and I get scared. I feel very phony. I don't know why, but I was telling Vivenne about it and I mean I just feel fake putting so much effort into something that may be nothing. I don't know, perhaps this is all really simple, a result of having an ego big enough to write your friends emails that begin with refrences to the future blockbuster feature about, well, my AMAZING life. It could be that I've been creatign the things that I figured would make me great and find that in reality nothing is changing. Well who knows, but anyway, we should hang out. Cheers.

P.S - The Mekons are really good. So are The Replacements. And the new Radiohead album.

I'm sort of at a loss for words. My overwhelming awe has robbed me of speech and left me dribbling all over my bib like some sort of baby, who wouldn't know how great Avi in all his fohawk splendor really is. Fortunately for me, I am not a baby, and can thusly appreciate the greatest thing in the world.
Danny 2003-04-11
I, too, am not a baby. Beyond that, though, I think our similarites part, as it were. I mean, unless by "fohawk splendor" you mean "really stupid," I'd have to disagree.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
Gee, Danny, what else could have I meant by "fohawk splendor"?
Danny 2003-04-11
Well, I suppose you could have meant what F. John Bailey meant in 1956, when he coined the term. But you would be too ignorant to know that, wouldn't you? Perhaps you and Avi should get together and be ignorant and insignificant together, eh?
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
Fine with me, as long as I get to wear the red canvas sneakers. I love red canvas sneakers.
Danny 2003-04-11
I'm sure you do. Asshole.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
Hey hey hey! Let's all just calm down a little here, and I'll try not to mention the incident with the cat and the bedsheet and required a lot intensive cleanup, if I recall.
Danny 2003-04-11
First of all, it wasn't MY cat. Second, that has nothing to do with the fact that you're stupid and that your grammar has gone to shit. And I quote: "and required a lot of cleanup." Jews.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
You err, my friend. What seems to you to be bad grammar is actually the discreet omission of a certain clause, what Artscroll translations call "a lacuna in the text." Chasurei mechsera vhachi ketani: "the cat and the bedsheet and [the other thing that you really want me to leave out, as in, your mom, that] required a lot of cleanup." Someone obviously does not know how to read texts.
Danny 2003-04-11
You, my dear friend, are a Doodiebrains McDoodle extraordinaire.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
I'd share my medal with you, fartface, but I'm afraid you might touch it.
Danny 2003-04-11
And what? Put it in my pants, like some people I know?
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
You know...I mean, come on. Isn't Avi stupid?
Danny 2003-04-11
You have no idea. I mean, he's probably the dumbest person I know. Gets me thinking... maybe Shmuckus is watching us talk right now.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
Avi, if you're out there, give us a sign!
Danny 2003-04-11
Really, Avi, tell us what you're thinking.
Danny 2003-04-11
Tell us what's in your mind right now.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
No sign comes. There is no Avi, and all is permitted. I feel engulfed by the void.
Danny 2003-04-11
I think Avi is a void.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
And a movie about a void can't be very interesting. Well, now that we have faced the void, I figure we should begin to express our ubermenschlich characters. Or seek perefct moments. Or constantly get drunk.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
That's "perfect."
Danny 2003-04-11
Maybe dumpus is drunk.
Jesse Mermelstein 2003-04-11
It could be. We can rest assured, though, that wherever he is and whatever he's doing, he's still stupid. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go cheese shopping. See you later, Danny.
Avi 2003-04-11
I think I should reinstate Parasite.
Danny 2003-04-11
Bye Jesse. And helloooo Avi.
Danny 2003-04-11
So, how about that Jesse character? He's kinda stupid, huh?
Dahlia 2003-04-11
I can't figure out if this makes me feel like I'm in high school again, or in third grade again. Either way, hey guys!
