As I am sure everyone knows, I went to Vegas this week with my brother and cousing Avi (yes he shares my name). We stayed at the Monte Carlo located on the strip. Okay, so this story is gonna sound like any other "I lost my life savings in vegas" story that some guy sitting next to you at that bar you heard didn't card, told you that night before you left for vegas when you and your brother toasted to a good time in vegas. But anyway, it is still a good story. Okay, so we get to vegas, yadda yadda yadda, let me get right to the interesting part of the story. The day after we get there, after we loose around 600$ the first night in the casino playing Poker, Blackjack, whateve, we wake up and come up with this theory I call Double Averaging.
When I got back to New York, I heard some versions of this theory, but I don't think any of them are as elegent as mine. Here goes, you bet a principal - let's say 5 - on both even bets of your choice - red and black let's say. That hand, you break even, as red lost but black paid out 5. Now, you double your bet on the loose, red, and put another five on the winner, black. If it lands on red, you made another five dollars, if not you made five dollars on black and the next hand, double your bet on red. The point of this theory is that as long as you double your loosing bet, when that loosing bet wins, you will have made back all your money plus five, and meanwhile, you have been making 5 on every spin of the wheel. Get it? It is a very simple theory based on dollar cost averaging. I mean really, eventually it has to land on red? How many times in a row can it go on black? Well for us it was eight. Eight meaning we had to put out a 320$ dollar bet on Red in order for us to make back our loosing and continue playing the theory correctly as we had been during the entire day (making over 1300$ I may add). So after loosing that 320$ bet, which is a total of 635$, we didnt have enough cash to back up the next bet, 640$, and we took our loses, got really drunk, and lost anohter 400$. But we had a good time and I looked really slick in my suite. The moral of this story is that you always have to be ready to come back in the game with double. Hehe, I sound like Asop.
In other life news, I had my last session with my therapist who I've been seeing for over a year and a half. Sucks cause I am going to wisconsin and I have to find a new therapist who knows more about film then I do...During therapy I always compare my life at moments to films, I just frame refrences that way, I am sure everyone does it with something...Well anyway, it was sad and kinda reminded me that I only have 18 days left of my current life. After that, I fly to wisconsin and I am really starting a new life. This is like knowing your death sentence, after 18 days, I am reborn. It is a really wierd feeling, Limbo, not being dead, not being alive, knowing that what happens in the next 18 days is somewhat irrelevent as after those days, I never have to deal with the repurcussions of the events during those days. Whatever, I can't really explain it, but it is scary. Okay, so I will post some pictures from vegas of us winning money and then loosing money. I am going to program some sort of photo album thing for the daily doses but until then, the pictures will just kinda stand out like this, you know? Oh yeh, I am going to be finishing the site this week, hopefully all the user stuff and other content will be working, but hey, no garuntees right?
